Sealants and tapes must suit both surfaces.

Construction sealant cartridges, butyl sealing tape and PTFE thread tape for store and maintenance buyers across the United States. Jorkli in Austin groups the compound with its actual joint context, not a blanket “waterproof” promise.

01 / Cartridge compounds

Construction sealant

A cartridge delivers a compound into a prepared joint. The binder chemistry determines which surfaces it can bond to and how it handles movement. Construction sealant cartridges suit buyers who can name the substrate pair and state whether the bead is exposed, painted over or confined behind another component.

Do not choose from color alone. Silicone, polyurethane and hybrid compounds have different limits; those names describe chemistry families, not a claim that every variant is stocked or suitable. Product identity and the manufacturer's technical data settle the choice.

Compound
Confirm chemistry and any primer requirement for both surfaces.
Joint detail
Width, depth, backing and expected movement.
Finish
Color and paint compatibility where required.
Application
Surface condition, temperature and exposure during cure.

Enquiry basis Per tube or carton, confirmed on enquiry.

A skin is not a cured joint. The surface can become touch-dry before the full depth has cured. Do not infer water exposure or service readiness from the appearance of the bead.

02 / Compressed overlaps

Butyl sealing tape

Butyl tape is a compressible sealing material for compatible overlaps. It suits sheet-joint enquiries where the mating surfaces and means of compression are known. A lap seal hidden beneath a mechanically secured overlap is a different job from an exposed repair strip.

The width must fit the contact path. Thickness affects how the tape fills the gap under compression, and a distorted sheet can leave a channel even when the tape itself is intact. When asking a supplier for butyl sealing tape, put the width and thickness beside the quantity. State the required roll length too.

Material
Butyl-based compressible tape; confirm formulation and facing.
Geometry
Roll width, thickness and length with stated units.
Surface pair
Sheet material and finish on both sides of the overlap.
Exposure
Concealed or exposed use, including temperature and water contact.

Enquiry basis Per roll, confirmed on enquiry.

Adhesion cannot hold an open lap shut.Confirm the joint's mechanical restraint. Do not ask tape to replace missing fasteners or compensate for a moving, unsupported edge.

Overlap record

Name the coating too.

“Metal to metal” leaves out the surface the tape actually meets. Paint, protective films and aged coatings affect adhesion. A contaminated coating can detach while the adhesive remains attached to it.

For roof-sheet laps, pair the sealing enquiry with the roofing screw and closure details. Tell us whether the seal is under the lap or applied over its outside face. That distinction separates butyl lap tape from the reinforced repair-tape context.

A wider roll is not automatically a better seal. The tape needs continuous contact on the prepared surfaces and an installation method suited to its product data.

03 / Threaded joints

Thread seal tape

PTFE tape belongs at a compatible threaded sealing interface, not on every threaded fastener.

PTFE thread seal tape is a thin fluoropolymer tape used with suitable threaded connections. It suits a maintenance request that identifies the fitting material and what the joint carries. A fitting sealed by a gasket, O-ring or compression seat may not seal at its threads at all.

Do not use a generic roll description for gas, oxygen or another specialist service. The required product grade and approvals have to be identified for that application. No service rating is implied by this catalogue entry.

Material
PTFE; grade to be confirmed against the service.
Connection
Thread form, fitting material and actual sealing face.
Service conditions
Medium, pressure and operating temperature requirements.
Roll specification
Width, thickness or density where specified, and length.

Enquiry basis Per roll, confirmed on enquiry.

Thread tape is not threadlocker. It is not a structural fastener locking method. Follow the fitting maker's instructions for approved sealing materials and assembly.

Compatibility matrix

The joint decides the compound.

These rows define the checks, not blanket approvals. “Suitable” means the particular product's documentation supports the stated materials and conditions. A family name alone cannot do that.

No cure time, movement rating or application temperature is assigned to an unspecified compound. Confirm the selected product's current data rather than borrowing values from another cartridge.

The failure to avoid

A strong bead on a weak surface still fails.

Compatibility includes what remains under the new material. Old sealant can leave a residue that changes adhesion even after the visible bead is removed.

Preparation and joint shape

Remove unsound material using methods permitted for the substrate. Dust, oil and standing water need attention before application; “damp tolerant” on one product does not make another product suitable for the same surface.

Joint depth and backing affect how a sealant moves. Follow the specified backing and bond-break detail. Bonding a moving bead to an unintended third face can stop it deforming as designed and concentrate stress at the edges.

Cure and service exposure

State when the joint must face rain or other service conditions. Cure depends on the compound and the installed geometry, with temperature and moisture affecting some chemistries. A thicker bead is not a shortcut to a stronger joint.

For tape, state how pressure is applied and whether the joint remains supported. For sealant, confirm storage condition and usable life when the product is identified. Do not mix leftover cartridges under one unnamed line.

Supply process

Compare the same amount of usable material.

A cheaper tube can contain less compound. A tape roll with the same length can have a different width or thickness. Neither comparison is useful until the dimensions and product identity sit beside the price basis.

Jorkli checks availability after an enquiry. There is no published live balance and no promised dispatch window on this page. A request with a known product code can be checked against that code; an open-ended joint description may need clarification first.

Send a sealant enquiry
  1. State the joint before the quantity.Name both surfaces, describe movement or compression, and add the exposure. Include a product reference when a specification already exists.
  2. Set the comparison units.Give tube volume or roll dimensions if known, plus the number of tubes or rolls needed. A carton count is checked, not guessed.
  3. Resolve compatibility questions.Missing chemistry or surface information is clarified before a line is treated as a fit. Any alternative needs review against the same joint conditions.
  4. Review the confirmed basis.Check the product description, supply quantity and lead time in the reply before proceeding outside this inquiry-only catalogue.

Not every leak is a sealant job.

A moving sheet, failed joint support or damaged roof detail can need repair beyond a new bead. This catalogue is for component selection, not a diagnosis of the building or an installation service. A tube cannot correct the underlying geometry of an open, unsupported joint.

For fire-rated joints, potable-water contact or other regulated uses, name the required system or standard in the enquiry. This page makes no approval claim for those applications. A product-specific document must establish any required rating.

Cartridges and rolls / Enquiry only

Tell us what the joint connects.

Put both substrate names in the specification field. For example, “painted steel overlap” is more useful than “outside tape.” Add the coating type or exact membrane name if known, without guessing a chemistry you cannot identify.

For a bead
Joint width and depth, movement, color and paint requirements.
For lap tape
Roll width and thickness, compressed gap and exposure.
For thread tape
Fitting material, thread type and service medium.

Supply at least one reply route. The form does not calculate coverage or prescribe an installation method.

Phone or email is needed for a reply; you do not need to provide both.

Product compatibility and the tube, carton or roll basis require confirmation.
